The Uses of Chenpi: Versatile Pairings for Health and Flavor
Chenpi (Dried Tangerine Peel) is not only consumed on its own but can also be paired with other ingredients for cooking. It can also be used in pill or powder form.
Here are some common ways to use Chenpi:
1. Chenpi Tea
Method: Add 20 grams of Chenpi to boiling water and steep for a few minutes. It is suitable for people suffering from digestive issues such as bloating, poor appetite, indigestion, and excessive phlegm from coughing. How to Cook:

Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Heat 2 inches of oil in a wok to 180°C (350°F). Fry shrimp in batches until golden (1-2 mins per side). Remove and drain.

In the same wok, sauté garlic until fragrant. Add soaked Chenpi (squeeze out excess water) and stir-fry for 30 secs.

Pour in shrimp, then add Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar. Toss quickly over high heat for 1 min. Drizzle with sesame oil and serve hot.

Ingredients:whole duck (about 600g, cleaned, giblets removed)、600g green radish (peeled, cubed)、20g Xinhui Chenpi (shredded, soaked for 10 mins)、slices ginger, 1 tsp salt、liters water
How to Cook:
- Blanch duck in boiling water for 2 mins to remove impurities. Drain and rinse.
- In a pot, combine duck, water, ginger, and Chenpi. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer for 1.5 hours.
- Add green radish and continue simmering for 45 mins until radish is tender. Season with salt and serve.
